Without a doubt, 2018 is set to be an incredibly exciting year for the real estate industry, especially if you’re based in New York City. One of the best ways to get involved and stay on top of emerging trends is to attend a real estate conference or real estate networking events NYC that is taking place around town, or perhaps even elsewhere in the country.

Inman Connect on January 22–26

One of the year’s most anticipated real estate events in NYC is coming up very quickly! Inman Connect is taking place January 22-26 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, and over 4,000 industry professionals are expected to be in attendance. This is a real estate conference that will include meet and greets, fireside chats, and lots of important conversations with venture capitalists, startups, and industry game changers. You’ll also get to preview the industry’s newest tools before they become available to the public and stay ahead of the technology curve. Some of the featured speakers this year are best-selling author Simon Sinek, Chorus Fitness’ Dick Costolo, CNN’s Sally Kohn, and Zillow Group’s Amy Bohutinsky.

Future Offices 2018 on January 29-31

Another real estate event that we’re particularly excited for coming up soon is Future Offices 2018. Office life is looking much different than it used to just a few years ago, and real estate professionals must adapt to the changing times to stay relevant in the industry. This real estate conference will feature over 30 speakers, a workshop day, and site tours to highlight the rapidly changing workforce and technological innovations. NAIOP: NYC Chapter 2018 Annual State of the Mark: Outlook on National & NYC Real Estate on January 30

We also recommend heading over to Gensler on Broadway on January 30th to listen to the panelists at NAIOP’s NYC Chapter 2018 Annual State of the Mark. Starting at 8:00am, you can listen to Jim Costello of Real Capital Analytics discuss real estate market trends nationwide. Then Eric Anton of Marcus & Millichap will be moderating a panel of industry professionals about the NYC real estate market. This is a great event to get in tune with what to expect in 2018, both locally and nationally.

Projects Conference New York City on February 22

BuiltWorlds is putting on a conference on February 22 that’s all about incorporating emerging technology into building projects. Everyone, including architects, contractors, and real estate executives, is responsible for aligning technology with project goals, so this is a unique event worth checking out. It’s taking place at the Hub at Grand Central Tech on Madison Avenue from 7:30am to 4:00pm on February 22, and the event includes breakfast, lunch, networking opportunities, and a startup challenge. The list of speakers includes Marielle Price, director of construction at Fieldwire, and Roger Krulak, the founder and CEO of Fullstack Modular.

New Rochelle: The Best of Both Worlds on February 28

There’s been a lot of buzz about New Rochelle lately and its ambitious downtown development plan that’s so close to NYC. You can get to this February 28 event in under an hour from the city to learn about real estate opportunities just a bit further north. Starting at 8:30am, you can learn about New Rochelle’s fast track permitting program, projects in the pipeline, and what developers are doing to draw in new tenants. Mayor Noam Bramson is the keynote speaker, and others will be speaking about the four-billion-dollar redevelopment plan and the culture and tech infusion happening here.

CAPRE’s Seventh Annual Greater New York Healthcare Real Estate Summit on March 20

The healthcare real estate industry is booming right now, and there’s a great conference at the Yale Club of New York City on March 20 to learn more about it. This is an event for real estate developers, investors, medical tenants, and capital sources, and over 40 speakers will be featured to provide a market analysis of the opportunities and challenges in the Tri-State Area. The full-day conference will include breakfast, lunch, and networking opportunities, making it the most comprehensive healthcare real estate event in the country this year. The list of speakers includes Victor H. McConnell of VMG Health, Toby Scrivner of Stan Johnson Company, and H. Guy Leibler of Simone Healthcare Development.

RealShare Net Lease on April 1

This 16th annual conference will bring together real estate executives from the net lease sector at the Park Lane Hotel on April 4 and 5. The event is presented by GlobeSt.com and is a must for high-level real estate professionals, principals with large firms, and also small investors. There’s a networking cocktail reception on the evening of the 4th, and then all of the sessions take place on the 5th following breakfast at 8:00am. Speakers at last year’s event included Kevin Lipson of Ten-X, Kathleen Barthmaier of W.P. Carey, and many more.

NYC Real Estate Expo on April 18

Another great real estate conference coming up in the spring is the NYC Real Estate Expo, which will be taking place at the NY Hilton in Midtown on April 18th. This is a 10th annual event that will bring together residential and commercial real estate professionals for real estate networking events in NYC, as well as exhibits and panel discussions. The event takes place from 7:30am to 5:00pm and is expected to draw in over 5,000 professionals and more than 150 exhibitors. There are three lecture halls with sessions on topics like need-to-know trends, reflections on the future market, and how to implement new technologies. The list of speakers includes residential specialists, technology leaders, experts on immigration law, investment compliance, and energy and sustainability.

RICS Summit of the Americas Series on May 14

RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is the professional organization that promotes and enforces standards in management, valuation, and development of real estate, construction, land, and infrastructure. Its multi-city Summit Series 2018 is coming to NYC on May 14 at the NYU Global Center. Topics disused will include best practices for property valuation, real estate development, tax assessment, and quantity surveying. Both members and non-members of RICS can attend the event, and the one-day ticket price includes breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and a closing cocktail reception.

Only Brooklyn Real Estate Conference on May 16

The eighth annual Only Brooklyn Real Estate Conference is taking place from 8am to 4pm on May 16. Hundreds of real estate players are expected to gather together at this event to discuss the local market and feature panel topics about current projects, issues, and trends in Brooklyn right now. Arrive in time for breakfast at 8am and stay for the after-party from 4:15-6pm. Last year’s keynote speakers included Jed Walentas of Two Trees Management Company and AJ Pires of Alloy.

Real Estate Conference and Event Opportunities Outside NYC

Although there are certainly plenty of exciting real estate events taking place right here in New York this year, you can expand your network even further and learn about other markets if you’re willing to travel a bit.

A couple real estate events worth traveling for are the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World 2018 Conference Week, which is taking place January 29 to February 2 at the Wynn Las Vegas, and RECon: The Global Retail Real Estate Convention May 20-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Then there’s also the National Association of Realtors Broker Summit in Nashville April 4-5 and the National Association of Realtors Trade Expo in Washington, D.C. May 16-17. Finally, a huge conference worth marking your calendar for later in the year is the National Association of Realtor’s Conference & Expo taking place November 2-5 in Boston. It’ll be at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and will draw in industry professionals from all over the country to learn and talk about real estate trends.
