This is FundingPost’s big summer conference coming to the far upper west side in the Washington Heights area on the Hudson River. The 5th annual Summer Venture is happening on Thursday, August 3 and expected to draw many entrepreneurs and investors to the lovely waterfront venue. Many Angel Groups in NYC will be showcased, and the main topics discussed will be strategies to meet, pitch, and get funded by investors.

Come to this event to learn about the best ways to reach investors and earn their support. Food and frozen cocktails will be served, with plenty of networking time to put your newfound knowledge to use. The event will be moderated by David Sorin of McCarter & English and Kevin Pianko of BDO. Other speakers are Rishi Patel of Plus Eight Equity Partners, Doug Clinton of Loup Ventures, Joseph Coyne of Studio VC, J. Skyler Fernandes of One Match Ventures, and Paul Capon of Luna Adventures.

The cost to attend the event is $85, and it runs from 2pm to 6pm on August 3. The venue location for La Marina NYC is 348 Dyckman Street in New York City. But coming early from 11am to 1pm for the pitching workshop lunch, which costs $370 and includes your $85 ticket to the main event. Here you’ll learn how to perfect your two-minute elevator pitch so that investors can quickly and decisively choose to support your start-up.

What’s great about this event, especially for cash-strapped entrepreneurs just starting out, is that it is free to attend. Just RSVP and come to the Hudson Terrace at 621 West 46th Street on Monday, August 14 between 6:30pm to 9:30pm to connect with like-minded New Yorkers and potentially meet new co-founders, partners, coaches, and team members for your start-up.

The dress code is business-casual, and everyone will receive a name tag upon arrival. Bring your business cards! Since this event is being hosted at club/lounge, there is a one drink minimum to help support the venue. The NYC Startup Job Fair kicks off on September 29 at noon and runs until 5pm inside Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square in New York City. The purpose of this event is to connect job seekers of all levels of experience with NYC-area start-up businesses. In the past, epic start-ups like Vimeo and Etsy have exhibited at these job fairs. A list of this year’s start-ups attending the event will be posted on the job fair’s website.

Since this is more of a platform for start-ups to hire exceptional talent rather than a traditional conference, there is not a speaker series or workshops to attend. Similar job fairs are taking place in other major cities as well, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Here you’ll also learn how to build a great team, practice entrepreneurship skills, and meet experienced start-up leaders in a variety of industries.

This event kicks off on Friday, October 20 at 6:30pm at Galvanize, which is at 315 Hudson Street on the 2nd floor in New York City. You can come to this event if you have an innovative idea for a start-up already in mind or even if you don’t and are looking for inspiration.

Ticket prices range from $30 to $99 and include access to the weekend-long event, the chance to pitch your idea, seven meals, mentoring, workshops, a book, t-shirt, and countless networking opportunities.
